I am Natasha, founder of Garniyarn . It all started with a curiosity about knitting flower holders for pots on my balcony. I searched and ordered a few spools of macrame cord online, what I received was seemingly good quality and the price was not exactly cheap, when I analyzed it better, the cords were made of poor material and the final workmanship looked flimsy and I set aside a lot of time to knit 5-6 pot holders as a beginner. I said to myself, isn't it a bit unfair to use waste textile fibers where yarns are knitted by hand, with effort and with a lot of love, so this is not a loom for knitting single-use products. At that time, the factory where I worked as a production manager was producing yarn for weaving sheets, actually excellent quality 100% cotton yarn from which I did a little experiment and as a sample I made a few pieces of 100 meters of macrame cord . The result was excellent, extraordinary strength, clean structure, it was soft and gentle to the touch and stood perfectly without unraveling when knitting but the capacity of the machines there was large and there was no economic viability for the bosses :) I offered the product as an idea to the management and the company was not interested in new projects and in fact after a few years it failed and I was supposed to continue in another company in the same industry. I did not do that, I decided to take a bold step, to do something where I would use my knowledge, contacts and experience and it would be a family business that would aim for top quality, controlled production, innovation and honesty. After the research that my husband and I did, we noticed that the market offered yarns and ribbons made from waste cotton materials accompanied by recycled synthetic blends and declared as 100% recycled cotton and that the offer of high quality was almost nonexistent. What did we do? We created Garniyarn, with a partner small family company as a manufacturer, with our purchase of materials, investment in several machines that we adapted in our own way (in fact, my husband is engaged in servicing machines in the textile industry) we created products that are undoubtedly of premium quality. In short, behind Garniyarn stand professionals in the production of yarns and cords. We use selected cotton from Greek plantations, we give it to spinning in one of the most modern factories in the Balkans and we take on already tested material from which the cords are created. Our quality control is present throughout the spinning, twisting, dyeing and all parts of the creation of the products, our products will best prove it to you, but it is still confirmed by the Oeko Text Standard 100, where we are placed in product class 1.
